High School Program begins today!


A great opportunity for career training while in high school!

Shoreline School of Cosmetology provides you with training in the areas of hair care, skin care,

manicuring andthe theory related to the Art and Science of Cosmetology. In partnership with the

Santa Cruz County Office of Education Regional Occupational Program (ROP),

Shoreline School of Cosmetology

offers a high school seniors-only Cosmetology class.

The high school program enables students to

complete the first 160-200 hours of the Adult Cosmetology Program.

If you are in 11th grade and are interested, you must attend an informational Forum at

Shoreline School of Cosmetology.

This is a required step to be considered for the program as a senior!

All informational Forums are the second Friday of each month from 3:30 – 4:30 pm*

Forum’s are held at the new Shoreline facility, 1550 41st Ave, Capitola, 423-5806

*Important: Summer Forum dates are for adults ONLY. High school students MUST attend a Forum

between September and April.

Requirements for entrance into Cosmetology program

· Attend a Forum.

· Return the Contact Sheet you receive from Shoreline School of Cosmetology to your

ROP Counselor after you attend a Forum.

· Maintain a 2.0 GPA.

· Complete high school math and science per-requisites

(varies by school but usually it’s Algebra I

plus two science classes, at least one Life Science and one Physical Science)

by end of your senior year.

· Maintain good attendance during high school.

· Do well at your Shoreline School of Cosmetology interview before your senior year.

Additional information

· The entire Cosmetology Program consists of 1600 hours and includes Level I,

the high school program up to

160-200 hours; Level II, 200 – 1000 of skill training; and Mock Board 1000+ hours

(students start seeing clients as part of the Salon).

· You will be graded on a Pass/Fail basis and will receive progress reports.

You will also earn a percentage grade.

· Class is held every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at the

Shoreline School of Cosmetology.

· You can earn 5 high school credits each semester.
